Unresolved Webapp Library references for “WebAppModule(DMS Application:dms.war)”, defined in weblogic.xml [Extension-Name: jstl

 

Today our WebLogic managed servers went into ADMIN mode and received the following error in the log files.:

 

Error in the WebLogic log files 

 

weblogic.application.ModuleException: Error: Unresolved Webapp Library references for “WebAppModule(DMS Application:dms.war)”, defined in weblogic.xml [Extension-Name: jstl, Specification-Version: 1.2, Implementation-Version: 1.2, exact-match: false]

        at weblogic.servlet.internal.WebAppModule.mergeWebAppLibraries(WebAppModule.java:523)

        at weblogic.servlet.internal.WebAppModule.processWebAppLibraries(WebAppModule.java:448)

        at weblogic.servlet.internal.WebAppModule.init(WebAppModule.java:249)

        at weblogic.servlet.internal.WebAppModule.init(WebAppModule.java:682)

        at weblogic.application.internal.flow.ScopedModuleDriver.init(ScopedModuleDriver.java:162)

<Emergency> <Deployer> <BEA-149259> <Server “p6-1” in cluster “p6-Cluster” is being brought up in administration state due to failed deployments.>

 

Solution: 

 

As you see in the above error highlighted in RED color, the issue is with JSTL library. This is due to the JSTL library has not targeted to the right cluster.  That’s the reason, WebLogic server went into ADMIN state and other deployed application also failed to start. 

 

Every thing worked fine after targeted the JSFT library to the corresponding cluster as shown below. To do this: 

 

  1. Log into Weblogic console >> Deployment >> Click o the jstl >> Targets >> Click Lock and Edit >> Toggle on your cluster & Click Save
