Home/Java/Error: This installer must be executed using a Java Development Kit (JDK)

The following error might occur while executing java from command prompt

Error:

This installer must be executed using a Java Development Kit (JDK)

but C:\Program Files\Java\jre7 is not a valid JDK.

Issue and Fix

The issue is due to the java is pointing to JRE instead of JDK

Execute the java from the JDK folder like below

c:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_60\bin\java.exe” -jar “<FILENAME>.jar”

I am trying to install web logic and I still keep getting this error. I tried:C:Program Files (x86)Javajre1.8.0_73bin>java.exe -jar C:WVSTestingfmw_12.
    2.1.1.0_wls_quick.jar ORACLE_HOME=C:oracle
    Launcher log file is C:UserskulkarniaAppDataLocalTempOraInstall2016-08-29_
    04-01-38PMlauncher2016-08-29_04-01-38PM.log.
    Extracting the installer . . . . . . . . Done
This installer must be executed using a Java Development Kit (JDK)
but C:Program Files (x86)Javajre1.8.0_73 is not a valid JDK Java Home.
don’t know where this jre is coming from..

I think she tried jre path initially “C:Program Files (x86)Javajre1.8.0_73bin>java.exe -jar C:WVSTestingfmw_12.2.1.1.0_wls_quick.jar… so if we use JDK directory then it would work

If you are try fmw_12.2.1.1.0_wls_quick or another jar paste on java bin folder then try to install .
            C:Program FilesJavajdk1.8.0_40bin>java.exe -jar fmw_12.2.1.2.0_wls.jar
            working properly …..

i faced the same problem even when JAVA_HOME points to JDK this is how i resolved it ,

      run command prompt as administrator
go to the directory which contains your jar file
      C:Windowssystem32>cd/

      C:>cd oracleweblogic

Set JAVA_HOME and path again on the command prompt
      C:oracleweblogic>set JAVA_HOME=C:Program FilesJavajdk1.8.0_45

      C:oracleweblogic>set path=C:Program FilesJavajdk1.8.0_45bin;%path%

      run the jar file
      C:oracleweblogic>java -jar fmw_12.2.1.1.0_wls_quick.jar
