Next, we are going to test the LDAP server

Test Directory Server

1. Go to INSTANCE_dir\OUD\bat directory, and test the connection of Directory Server by doing a LDAP search

instance-dir/oud/bin/ldapsearch -h localhost -p 389 -D “cn=directory manager” -w password -b “dc=example,dc=com” “(objectclass=*)”

For Example:

C:\Oracle\Middleware1136\asinst_1\OUD\bat>ldapsearch.bat -h localhost -p 389 -D “cn=directory manager” -w password123 -b “dc=catgovind,dc=com” “(objectclass=*)”

The result will be like below

Start Unified Directory Server

Go to the INSTANCE_DIR\OUD\bat\start-ds.bat

For Example: C:\Oracle\Middleware1136\asinst_1\OUD\bat> start-ds.bar

Stop Unified Directory Server

Go to the INSTANCE_DIR\OUD\bat\start-ds.bat

For Example: C:\Oracle\Middleware1136\asinst_1\OUD\bat> stop-ds.bat

What Next?

We installed Directory Server. Now need an LDAP browser to explore  OUD. Oracle Unified Directory provides an inbuilt tool called  Oracle Directory Service Manager or ODSM which is a web-based graphical user interface used to configure & manage directory server. In my next post, I have shown how to setup ODSM in WebLogic server, that is Oracle Unified Directory Installation – Part III
