In this section, we walk through how to install Oracle Identity Management 11.2.3 on Windows with screen shots. The Oracle Identity Manager cannot be installed directly even though it comes with a Windows executable file. It requires Java, WebLogic,  Oracle Database, SOA Bundle etc. Let’s begin to install Oracle Identity Management

Let’s walk through each section one by one 

 

1. Where to Download Oracle Identity Management

1.1) Go to Oracle cloud

 

1.2) Search for ‘Oracle Identity Manager’; Select OIM and select Windows 64 in the select platform. Click Continue

1.3) Enable the following files and Click Continue. Below I have described the requirement of each file

RCU = Repository Create Utility which creates the database schema for Oracle Identity Manager.

Oracle Identity and Access Management = Contains all the binary files required for OID

Oracle SOA Suite = Requires for OID for Workflow capability

WebLogic Server = A J2EE server where we deploy the OID

1.4) Download the zip files as shown below. Save each set of the  zip files in a separate folder like c:/rcu, c:/oim, c;/soa, and c:/weblogic

2. Java Installation

 

Download and install 64-bit JDK 6 U 26 or higher. 

 

2.1. Go to the JDK 6 download URL

 

2.2. Accept & Download the JSK 6

2.3. Double click on the executable and install the JDK. (Install it in a folder that doesn’t have space. For example, save it in c:\java)

3. WebLogic 10.3.6 Installation

 

3.1. Unzip the downloaded WebLogic zip file (Step 1.3, v29856-01.zip) in a folder

 

3.2. You will find a jar file inside the zip file

 

3.3. Follow the WebLogic installation instruction. ( The instruction are similar )

 

4. Oracle Database Installation

 

4. Install Oracle Enterprise Edition 12C

 

Note: Oracle data integrated requires JVM option in the database and Oracle XE is not supported with JVM option. Use Oracle Enterprise Edition

 

4.2 While doing the database installation. Use the character set AL32UTF8 and uncheck the Create as Container database as like below

4.3) We must execute the xaviews.sql on Oracle 12C database before starting the OID installation. Follow the steps to run the SQL ( Click on the Oracle Doc for more information )

Note: Executing this SQL script is not required for Oracle 10C or 11G

1. Open a Command Prompt where Oracle database software installed

2. Go to ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin where ORACLE_HOME is the Oracle home directory where the Oracle database installed (Ex: C:\app\OracleHome\product\12.1.0\dbhome_1\RDBMS\ADMIN)

3. Login to SQLPLUS as SYSDBA (Example: sqlplus / as sysdba )

4. Execute the following script


@xaview.sql;

 

4.4) Increase the cursor value greater than 500

1. Login to SQLPLUS as SYSDBA

2. alter system set open_cursors = 1000 scope=both;

 

4.5) Increase the processes value greater than 500

1. Login to SQLPLUS as SYSDBA

2. alter system set processes=1000 scope=spfile;

 

4.6) Bounce the database.

1. Login to SQLPLUS as SYSDBA

2. shutdown immediate

3. startup

 

4.7) Optionally Enable Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) encryption in Oracle database. 

 

5. Create Schema for Oracle Identity Manager using RCU

 

5.1) Unzip the downloaded RCU in a separate folder ( Step 1.3, v75908-01.zip )

5.2) Go inside rcuHome\bin and double click on the rcu.bat

5.3) The RCU wizard opens on the screen. Click Next

5.4) Select Create and click Next

5.5) Enter your Oracle database credentials and click Next

5.6) Give a database prefix, and select Identity Management. It automatically selects the dependent schemas. Click Next

5.7) Once all are passed. Click Ok and Click Next

5.8) Enter the password for the schemas and Click Next

Note: Save this password in a separate file. This is the password for all the Oracle Identity Management schemas shown in the Schema Owner column present in the image below

5.9) Accept the default tablespaces by click Next and Ok or choose the tablespaces if you created it already.

5.11) Once all the status is in success. Click Close

6. Apply the mandatory Oracle WebLogic Patch

 

6.1) Below are the patches required for WebLogic 10.3.6. Theses patches are available in Oracle Support.

Mandatory Patches: 18398295, 14404715, 16844206, 13114768, 15865825, 14809365

Patches only if your Java is JDK7: 17938462

Patches only your Java is greater than JDK7 Update 40: 13964737 

 

6.2) Go to Oracle Support; search for the above patch numbers one bone; download the patch for version WLS 10.3.6

 

6.3) Unzip each zip file, Read the Readme.txt file; Install as per the instruction

 

7. Install the SOA Bundle 11.1.1.1.9 on WebLogic 10.3.6

 

7.1) Unzip the SOA bundle zip file (Downloaded in Step 1.4)

7.2) Go to the Disk1\install\win64 folder and double click on the setup.exe. Input the JDK_HOME directory installed in Step2

7.6) Enter your WebLogic 10.3.6 home installed in Step3

7.11) You will see a directory Oracle_SOA1 or similar name under MIDLDLEWARE_ HOME. For example, C:\Oracle\Middleware1136\Oracle_SOA1

 

8. Installing Oracle Identity and Access Management

 

8.1) Unzip the downloaded zip file in a directory (Step 1.4)

8.2) Open a command prompt and Go into Disk1\install\win64 directory; Issue setup.exe -ignoreDiskWarning

8.3) Input the JDK_HOME directory

8.7) Input the WebLogic 10.3.6 installed location

8.11) You will see a directory Oracle_IDM1 or similar name in your MIDDLEWARE_HOME (For Example, C:\Oracle\Middleware1136\Oracle_IDM1)

 

9. Create a WebLogic Domain for Oracle Identity and Access Management

 

9.1) Go into WebLogic server Common\bin directory and run the config.cmd file; For example, C:\Oracle\Middleware1136\wlserver_10.3\common\bin

9.2) Select Create a Domain and click Next

9.3) Select Identity Manager. The dependency will select automatically

Note: We are creating a domain only for Oracle Identity Manager. If you want to add more features like Oracle Access Management  and Mobile Security Suite| Oracle Adaptive Access Manager  | Oracle Entitlements Server  | Oracle Privileged Account Manager then enable the corresponding check boxes in this screen. You can add this features later as well.  Check my other post extend IDM domain for how to add these feature later.

9.4) Input a domain name and click Next

9.5) Input Password & Confirm password; Click Next

Note: Save the username & password in a file. This is required to start the WebLogic and login into WebLogic console

9.6) Choose the JDK and Select a mode; Click Next

9.7) Select each checkbox; input the Hostname, Port, DB Password, and schema owner of Oracle database created in Step 5.8. Click Next

9.8) Click Next. Make sure all the status are ticked. If anything failed, go back and correct the schema details

9.10) If you want to reconfigure any of the server then Click on the check boxed and click Next. Otherwise, Accept the default and click Next

10. Configure Database Security Store

 

10.1) Open a command prompt

 

10.2) Go to MW_HOME\oracle_common\common\bin directory.

For example, cd C:\Oracle\Middleware1136\oracle_common\common\bin

 

10.3) Issue the command like below

wlst.cmd <IDM_HOME>\common\tools\ configureSecurityStore.py -d <DOMAIN_HOME> -c IAM -p <OPSS_SCHEMA_PASSWORD>

For Example: wlst.cmd c:\Oracle\Middleware1136\Oracle_IDM2\common\tools\configureSecurityStore.py -d c:\Oracle\Middleware1136\user_projects\domains\idm_domain -m create -c IAM -p password123

Where:

-d => WebLogic Identity Manager Domain Home (created in step 9.5)

-m => Must be ‘create’

-c => Must be ‘IAM’

-p => OPSS Schema Password (Created in Step 5.8)

 

10.4) The output will be ends with a message successfully as shown below.

11. Start the WebLogic Admin & Managed servers

 

11.1 Start the WebLogic Admin server:

11.1.1) Open a command prompt, Go to userprojects\domain\bin directory and start the Admin Server

  • Cd C:\Oracle\Middleware1136\user_projects\domains\idm_domain\bin
  • startWeblogic.cmd

 

11.2 Start the Managed server

 

11.2.1 Start BI Server:

11.2.1.1) Open a command prompt, Go to userprojects\domain\bin directory and start the BI server

  • Cd C:\Oracle\Middleware1136\user_projects\domains\idm_domain\bin
  • startManagedWebLogic.cmd bi_server1 http://localhost:7001

    Note: if you get error like “Server is Running in Development Mode and Native Library(terminalio) to read the password securely from commandline is not found“. Do the following steps and the same is applicable for the upcoming Identity & SOA server as well

  1. Go to C:\Oracle\Middleware1136\user_projects\domains\idm_domain\servers\bi_server1\
  2. Create a directory security
  3. Create a file boot.properties
  4. Input the WebLogic username and password like below (Username & Password is given in Step 9.5)

11.2.2 Start Identity Manager

1. Cd C:\Oracle\Middleware1136\user_projects\domains\idm_domain\bin

2. startManagedWebLogic.cmd oim_server1 http://localhost:7001

 

11.2.3 Start SOA Server

1. Cd C:\Oracle\Middleware1136\user_projects\domains\idm_domain\bin

2. startManagedWebLogic.cmd soa_server1 http://localhost:7001

 

12. Configure Identity Management Design Console

 

12. 1) Open a command prompt; Go to IAM_HOME\bin; Run config.bat

 

12.1.1) cd C:\Oracle\Middleware1136\Oracle_IDM2\bin

12.1.2) Config.bat

 

12.2) A pop-up opens on a screen. Click the button Next

12. 3) Enable all the check-boxes & Click on the button Next

12.4) Input the database connection string; Input OIM and MDS schema passwords

12.5) Input the WebLogic Admin-server URL; username & password. (Step 9.5)

12.6) Input the passwords for OIM & Click Next

Note: if OIM ADMINISTRATOR password throws ‘INST-6162′. Check the Password contains at least 6 characters; begins with an alphabetic character; includes at least one number, one uppercase letter, and one lowercase letter.

Note: In OIM HTTP URL throws error ‘INST-6171‘, Replace the localhost with the HOSTNAME or FQDN

Note: Save this password in a notepad file. This is required to log in to Identity Manager

12.7) Input the OIM Server hostname & Port. The default port is 14000. (Follow the Step 13.1.2 to identify the port number)

12.8) Click Next (This is for RMI service)
