How to install WordPress on XAMPP on Widows
Installing WordPress in your local machine provides you lots of flexibility to play WordPress. You can make the local XAMPP server as a development server for all your R&D works. You could apply any changes to the local WordPress server and check if it works properly before making any changes directly on the production website. You can also validate like Installing a plugin in local for compatibility issue, customizing the CSS styles for WordPress theme, try different themes and verify which gives a proper look and feel.
Importantly, if you modify anything on your running site. The visitors viewing your site will get the changes immediately. If any changes you made works well, then its fine else you will lose your visitors. It is always better to have a local WordPress site setup; that is the replica of your running one. In this section, we will brief you about the installation of XAMPP and install WordPress on XAMPP.

|XAMPP is an installation suite of Apache, MySQL, and PHP.|
- XAMPP must be installed before proceeding further steps. Click XAMLL installation for instruction.
- Turn off any service that runs on port 80. For example, turn off the Windows service World Wide Web Publishing Service if it is running
Install WordPress on XAMPP
Download XAMPP for WordPress from here
Run the downloaded executable file and select your language on the screen, Click Ok, and Click Next
Input your XAMPP installation folder and click Next
Create a user account on the following screen and click Next.
Note: This is the credentials used to log into WordPress admin dashboard. Make a note of it.
Input a blog name
Enable the checkbox if you want to configure SMTP provider. If you have Gmail account, select the Gmail from a dropdown and click Next. Enter the gmail credentials on the following screen and click Next
Click Next and Click Next to start the installation
Click Finish to complete the setup. Here we completed the setup.
WordPress URL’s and Installation Folder
Go to the URL http://localhost/wordpress to go to Home page
Go to the URL http://localhost/wordpress/wp-admin to go to WordPress admin dashboard. Login with your credentials provided in the installation screen. (Marked in Red text)
Go to the URL http://127.0.0.1/phpmyadmin to find your WordPress database schema, default it is ‘bitnami_wordpress.’
Go to the directory c:\xampp\apps\wordpress\htdocs to find the WordPress installation files
Here we completed the WordPress installation on XAMPP server. Next, login into the WordPress admin URL (http://localhost/wp-admin) and install WordPress theme, plugins, and other customizations.
