How to Create an Oracle ADF Form validation

In this section, we are going to create a simple ADF form validation, which validates an employee’s form.  The ADF validator checks if the salary of the employee is greater than 10000 then the length of the phone number length must be ten characters before the user submitting the form.

ADF Form Validation Example:

I have created Employee Entity object from the HR scheme. Click on the link for the example to create a Fusion Middleware application and Employee Entity Object. The Employee EO object was created from the Employee table from HR schema that has a set of Employee records like name, job, salary, phone number etc. You will see the application like below once the EO got created 

 

Double click on the EmployeeEO object >> Click on the BusinessRules >> Scroll down and click the Salary field  >> Click + and Select New Validator

Check the Salary > 10,000 :  Click on the tab Validation Execution >> Click the Validation Execution>> Apply the Rule ‘Salary > 10000’ >> Click Ok

The Rule Definition tab triggers only if Salary is greater than 10000

Check the Phone Number length  is equal to 10: Click on the Rule Definition tab >> Click type = length >> Apply rule length of the Phone number should be ten as shown below

Rule Definition tab is where we are applying our validation Rule, This Rule executes only the Validation Execute returns true

Throw an error if Length(phoneNo) != 10 : Click on the Failure Handling >> Input an error message >> Click Ok

Input the human readable error message in Failure Handling

Test the AppModule

Right click on the AppModule >> Click Run

Input a Salary less than 1000 >> input a phone number less than ten characters >> Move your mouse cursor out from the phone number. You will not get error message because the validation executes only the salary is greater than 10000

Input a Salary more than 10000 >> Input phone number less than ten character length >> Move out from the phone number >> Error message will get displayed
